2026: THE Heart of the city

Scripture Foundation: Acts 2:44–47 | Jeremiah 29:7

In 2026, Capitol City Seventh-day Adventist Church is stepping into a defining call: to become The Heart of the City.

This theme reflects God’s vision for a church that is not only gathered in worship but embedded in the life of the city—a church whose presence brings hope, healing, unity, and transformation to Sacramento.

In Acts 2:44–47, we see the picture of the early church living as a spiritual heartbeat within their community. They shared life together, cared for one another, worshiped with sincerity, and responded generously to the needs around them. As a result, they experienced favor with the people, and God added to their number daily. Their faith was not confined to a building—it flowed into homes, neighborhoods, and the public square.

In Jeremiah 29:7, God gives His people a clear mandate: “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city… for if it prospers, you too will prosper.” This verse reminds us that our spiritual health is connected to the wellbeing of the city God has placed us in. We are called to pray for it, serve it, and work toward its flourishing.
The Heart of the City means Capitol City is committed to:
  • Being a welcoming and grace-filled community where people belong before they believe
  • Cultivating deep spiritual formation rooted in Scripture, prayer, and worship
  • Strengthening authentic relationships across generations and cultures
  • Practicing radical generosity and compassion
  • Showing up consistently to serve Sacramento with love, excellence, and integrity

Throughout 2026, this vision will shape our worship, discipleship, outreach, leadership development, and community engagement. We believe God is calling us to be a church that people can feel—a church that listens, loves, serves, and stands in the gap for the city.

As we pursue this vision together, our prayer is that Capitol City will beat with the heart of Jesus—a heart for God, a heart for one another, and a heart for Sacramento.
